Description
Unlike his variety shows, The Dawson Watch was a weekly investigation into the nation at large, addressing topics ranging from education, housing and transport to the environment, family life and the media.
Each episode opens with a monologue before moving onto a variety of short sketches interspersed with Les’ sharp observations as a stand-up comedy routine.
Regulars Cissie Braithwaite and Ada Shufflebotham are always on hand to give their take on the theme in question (featuring Roy Barraclough and Les Dawson suitably attired as two elderly women).
It’s a testament to the talents of Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough that their female alter-egos are instantly recognisable – and are as comical as ever – 40 years on from their first screen appearance.
This DVD collection features all 18 episodes from series 1-3, plus the 1980 Christmas Special.
